How to use the Parlez App:
- Open the app in your browser on any device (phone, laptop, etc.).
- Log in with your Google account by clicking “Continue with Google” and following the on-screen prompts.
- Start practicing: Once logged in, select a practice card from the main screen.
- Wait for the connection: the app will connect to the AI assistant. Once the assistant greets you, say “bonjour” or anything to test the connection (the initial connection may take slightly longer).
- If your speech is not captured in the transcript—especially at the beginning, that might be due to the local mic track being in a bad state (stopped, muted, permission lost, device changed, OS suspended audio), or the room being in a partially-stuck state after backgrounding. You can press the X button to return to the main page and try again, or refresh the page to reconnect.
- Practice speaking: Say your sentence out loud in French. The app will provide guidance, feedback, and encouragement.
- Exit the session: When you’re finished practicing, click the red X button to stop.
Select Practice Cards
On the main menu, you’ll see two practice cards. Each one offers a different type of practice:
1. French Pronunciation Coach
- Read any French sentence of your choice out loud.
- If the AI assistant understands you, it will repeat your sentence and encourage you to continue with the next one.
- If it doesn’t understand you, it will offer a suggestion to help improve your pronunciation.
- You can repeat after the AI or move on to a new sentence.

2. French Fluency Boost
- When the AI assistant asks which category you want to practice, simply say the category (for example, travel, food, or daily conversation). Or you can simply say “Je ne sais pas (I don’t know).”
- The AI assistant will give you a simple sentence in English.
- Respond by translating the sentence into French.
- If your answer is correct, the AI will praise you and move on to the next sentence.
- If your answer is incorrect, the AI will provide the correct translation and ask you to repeat it out loud.

Tips to use Parlez app for a better experience
- Make sure your microphone is on: Allow microphone access in your browser settings on all devices.
- Find a quiet place: Background noise can make it harder for the AI to understand you.
- Speak in full sentences: Speaking a sentence instead of a single word helps the AI understand you better.
- Seeing strange transcripts? Try speaking more slowly and clearly. If the issue continues, exit and start a new session.
- Is the AI acting off? If it takes too long to respond, goes off topic, or stops responding, try saying “Bonjour” to bring it back on track, or click the Stop button and start a new session.
